This album contains
thirteen original recordings, all written or co-written
by Danny and produced by
Richard Bell. It is some
of the most inspirational music I’ve ever heard. A
strong mix of R&B, soul, blues and gospel with a hint of
country, the songs are brought to life by Danny and his
band, The Rockin’ Revelators. As Danny
states in the CD’s liner notes, he draws on the lifelong
influences of his musical mentors Solomon Burke, Otis Redding, John Lee Hooker, Taj
Mahal, Blind Boys of Alabama and Hank
Williams to create this recording. The single
Hold On has already started moving up the beach
charts – it is about the soul music of an era that got
us all to where we are today. Every song on this album
contains a positive message for life. Some of my
personal favorites are: Can’t Keep A Good Man Down
For Long, a song of personal triumph over despair;
the gospel flavored Rock This House; Never Go
Wrong Doing Right, which conveys the strength of
parental wisdom; and Takes A Little Time, about
the power to forgive being wronged. Danny is open and
forthright – he has been up, way down and somehow found
the strength and the faith to get back up again. He has
lived the songs he writes about – the music is a
testament to overcoming the hardships and pitfalls of
life. You don’t want to fast forward any of this CD,
rather relax, enjoy the music, listen closely to the
words and reflect on the messages they inspire.

VOICE OF EXPERIENCE - DANNY BROOKS/ ROCK THIS HOUSE:
I just don't know how these Canucks get so much Memphis in their
soul, but they do, and they don't stop there, they get the rest of
the south tossed into the gumbo as well, and it all comes out right,
just like it does here on Brooks' latest. There's no way this isn't
the voice of experience and it just blows you away with every note.
It's only a matter of time before this white boy starts winning some
Handy awards.
